Giving From the Heart

For more than a decade, MIR has been supporting homeless people on the streets. Many years ago, we packed up a bus load of donated coats, hats, gloves, and sandwiches to hand out to people on the streets in Manhattan. In more recent years, we realized the need to help Staten Islanders was even more necessary. So what we once called the “Midnight Run”, changed to “Giving From the Heart”, an event we hold around Valentine’s Day. We bring a hot meal, new hats, gloves, blankets, socks, coats and toiletries to the Project Hospitality Drop In center. St. Peter’s Interact Club as well as Notre Dame HS Interact also help participate in this event. We try to instill in the clients there, that We Care.
